Introducing The Cedar Creek Cup Two Days. Four Formats. One Winning Team!

This is it—the launch of a new tradition. The first-ever Cedar Creek Cup is here, and it’s bringing a Ryder Cup-style rivalry to our own backyard.

In this inaugural Member-Run and Members Only showdown, two teams will go head-to-head across two days and four unique formats: Friday kicks off with Best Ball followed by a high-stakes Scramble, where partnerships are tested and every putt counts. Saturday ramps things up with Modified Alternate Shot in the morning—a true test of strategy and trust—followed by pressure-packed Singles matches in the afternoon.

With 180 total points in play and team pride on the line, only one side will claim victory and write their name into Cedar Creek history.

The Format: Four Matches, One Epic Weekend of Competition

Day One
Day 1: Friday – Best Ball & Scramble

Best Ball (9 Holes)

Captains will pair up players within each team, creating 4 two-person teams per side.

Each twosome plays their own ball

For each of the 9 holes, the lower score of the two partners is compared against the lower score of the opposing team’s partners.

Best Ball Handicaps: Full handicap will be used and will be played off the lowest handicap in the group.

Example:
Player A: Handicap 4 (2 handicap for 9 holes will get 0 shots and 2 shots will be taken from higher handicaps)
Player B: Handicap 8 (4 handicap for 9 holes will get 2 shots)
Player C: Handicap 13 (6.5 handicap for 9 holes will get 4.5 shots – yes, you can get ½ shot).
Player D: Handicap 16 (8 for 9 holes will get 6 shots)

Point Allocation:

Win the hole: 1 point to the team with the lower score.

Tie the hole: 0.5 points to each team.

Total Possible Points per Match: 9

Total Possible Points for Best Ball: 36

Two-Person Scramble (9 Holes)

New two-person teams will be chosen by the captains, resulting in 4 two-person scramble teams.

Both players on a team tee off. The team chooses the best tee shot.

Both players then hit their next shot from that chosen spot.

This process continues until the ball is holed.

The team score for each hole is compared against the opposing team’s scramble score.

Scramble Handicaps: Combined Percentage: 35% of the lower handicap + 15% of the higher handicap = Team Handicap

Example:
Player A: Handicap 10
Player B: Handicap 20
Team Handicap = (0.35 * 10) + (0.15 * 20) = 3.5 + 3 = 6.5 / 2 since only playing 9 holes = 3.25 (rounded up to 3.5 – yes you can get ½ shot)

Point Allocation:

Win the hole: 1 point to the team with the lower score.

Tie the hole: 0.5 points to each team.

Total Possible Points per Match: 9

Total Possible Points for Scramble: 36

Day 1 Total Possible Points: 36 (Best Ball) + 36 (Scramble) = 72 points

Day Two
Day 2: Saturday – Modified Alternate Shot (Foursomes) & Singles

Modified Alternate Shot (9 Holes)

Captains will pair up players within each team, creating 4 two-person teams per side.

On each hole, both partners tee off.

The team then chooses which of the two tee shots they want to play.

The player whose tee shot was not chosen hits the next shot.

From that point forward, the partners alternate hitting the same ball until the hole is completed.

The team score for each hole is compared against the opposing team’s score.

Modified Alternate Shot Handicaps: Take the combined handicaps of the two partners and divide by four since we’re playing 9-hole matches. (Player A Handicap + Player B Handicap) / 4 = Team Handicap

Example:
Player A: Handicap 10
Player B: Handicap 20
Team Handicap = (10 + 20) / 4 = 7.5 (yes you can get ½ shot)

Point Allocation:

Win the hole: 1 point to the team with the lower score.

Tie the hole: 0.5 points to each team.

Total Possible Points per Match: 9

Total Possible Points for Modified Alternate Shot: 36

Singles (9 Holes)

Captains will choose a player from one team to compete in a head-to-head singles match against a player from the opposing team.

This will result in 8 individual matches (playing in foursomes).

For each of the 9 holes, the scores of the two individual players are compared.

Full handicap will be used and will be played off the lowest handicap in the group.

Point Allocation:

Win the hole: 1 point to the player with the lower score (awarded to their team).

Tie the hole: 0.5 points to each player’s team.

Total Possible Points per Match: 9

Total Possible Points for Singles: 72

Day 2 Total Possible Points: 36 (Modified Alternate Shot) + 72 (Singles) = 108 points

Overall Tournament Point Allocation
* Friday: 72 points
* Saturday: 108 points
* Total Possible Points: 180 points
Winning Team: The team that accumulates the most total points across both days wins the tournament!

Friday, June 13: Tee times between 2 PM – 2:30 PM, meal afterwards

Saturday, June 14: Tee times between 10:30 AM – 11:00 AM, meal afterwards
